Prof. (Dr.) Vijender Kumar is the Vice-Chancellor of Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur, Professor of Law, and Commonwealth Fellow, UK. He has been the Vice-Chancellor of the National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam and the Registrar of NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad. An astute academician and research scholar, he has published research papers in reputed law journals on cutting-edge socio-legal issues in ‘Hindu Law’ and has contributed several book reviews. He has also authored several books, amongst which are “Being a Law Teacher 2020”, “Law Relating to Domestic Violence 2007”, and “Hindu Law of Adoption: Principles and Precedents 2004”. He has also revised various books, including “Hindu Law & Usage” by John D. Mayne (16th edition 2008, 17th edition 2014 and 18th edition 2020) and “Family Law in India” by Professor G.C.V. Subba Rao (8th edition 2004, 9th edition 2007 and 10th edition 2011). He has participated in, presented papers, and chaired sessions at several national and international conferences, seminars, and conclaves. Prof. Kumar was awarded the ‘Academic Staff Commonwealth Fellowship 2009-2010’ and appointed as ‘Visiting Professor’ at King’s College London, UK in 2009-2010. He was awarded the ‘Telangana State Award to Meritorious Law Teacher 2019’ by the Government of Telangana in September 2019. For many years, he has been a member of the Board of Studies, Academic Planning Board, Academic Council, Executive Council and General Council of many NLUs and other universities. Prof. Kumar served as President of the Consortium of National Law Universities between January 2023 and February 2024.
